Maintenance, Repair & Installation

A Geothermal Heat pump is an electrically powered system that taps the stored energy from the earth. These systems are Energy Efficient, Cost Effective, Reliable, Quiet, Safe, Clean, and Environmentally Friendly.

Geothermal heat pumps use the earth's constant temperature to provide heating, cooling, and hot water for homes and commercial buildings. Call E&J Geothermal today to have a geothermal heat pump system installed for your Solon, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, North Liberty, or Coralville home!

How Geothermal Saves You Money

With the assistance of the earth's energy a geothermal system has less work to do to reach the desired temperature setting throughout the year, the system is highly efficient and lowers operating costs. A fossil fuel furnace may be 80% to 90% percent efficient; a geothermal heat pump is amazingly 450% efficient.

If you are ready to cut down on environmental pollution and save money while doing so; give us a call today an experienced geothermal technician is ready to help.

Slinky Ground Loop

Horizontal "Slinky" Ground Loop

This type of design is cost effective on smaller projects or where there is sufficient space for the loop. Trenches, four to seven feet deep, are created and a series of parallel plastic pipes are laid inside of them. These loops are tied into a manifold and connected to the heat pump. The fluid is then circulated, absorbing or rejecting heat to the earth depending on the mode of operation. A typical horizontal slinky loop's length will vary according to the soil type and the layout of the piping. Slinky Loops are ideal for geothermal installations for new construction because the ground is already disturbed.

Bored Ground Loop

Horizontal "Bored" Ground Loop

Ideal for retro-fitting existing homes; bored loops do not disturb the ground as much as the Slinky loops do. Horizontal Bored Loops work well in a smaller lot size because the loop field can be placed underneath the home.

GEOTHERMAL FEDERAL TAX CREDIT

Residential Clean Energy Credit (25D): Increases residential credit to 30% for GSHP for systems installed starting in 2022 (after December 31, 2021) and extends the credit through 2034 (26%/22% phase out in final two years); the credit is not refundable, but can carry forward to future tax years.

Commercial Tax Credit (48(a)): Increases commercial credit to 30% for GSHP and extends through 2034 (26/22% phase out in final two years); refundable only for state/local/tax-exempt organizations. The rate increases to 40% if projects use components and manufactured goods that meet domestic content requirements.

Small Business USDA REAP Grants

What does this program do?

The program provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements. Agricultural producers may also apply for new energy efficient equipment and new system loans for agricultural production and processing.
